About A Life Recorded

A Life Recorded Online Memorial website and community is owned by William and Donna McCullough. It is their belief in the healing power of community and a desire to encourage others to celebrate their lost loved ones that lead to the creation of this website.

What A Life Recorded means to Us

"The idea behind this website is to encourage a culture and community of care.

The length of the grief process is different for everyone; there is no predetermined time scale for grief. Although it can be quite painful at times, the grief process should not be rushed. It is important to be patient with yourself as you experience your unique reactions to the loss.

With time and support, things generally do get better. However, it is normal for significant dates, holidays, or other reminders to trigger feelings related to the loss. Taking care of yourself, seeking support, and acknowledging your feelings during these times are ways that can help you cope.

We often use the words grieving and mourning interchangeably, but there is a difference: Grief is the personal, internal response to loss; mourning is the external, social sharing and expression of grief.

In healing grief it is important to allow others to support us. For some, this requires releasing the belief we (or others) have of ourselves as being a particular someone (i.e. "the strong one", "the rock" or "independent").

We may need to allow ourselves to be weak, to need help and support from others. Most of us are not skilled at asking for support or telling others what we need. (I totally understand this; I was the "strong one" and spent years trying to heal everything alone so that I wouldn't bother anyone or "be a burden").

From my experience I ask you to take advantage of my website to assist in your grief or simply to celebrate a life of a loved one."

A Life Recorded Online Memorial Plots & Areas

When you create a A Life Recorded Online Memorial Plot you will be encouraged to build a monument using your own words and images, for your departed loved one or in preparation for your own departure.

As you browse the plot areas from the A Life Recorded Memorial forecourt, you can make your choice as to how you would like your loved one or yourself to be remembered.

You may wish to travel to Valhalla on a Viking Long Ship and build a memorial befitting a warrior or knight of old.

You may prefer to follow the path leading to the Beautiful Realm of Thalansia, where you have the opportunity to create a plot in this land of beauty and wonder.

If you require a standard A Life Recorded plot, head to the Life Recorded Building where you can create a photo album honouring your loved ones, along with written memories of their lives in the Hall of Remembrance.

A recently added Online Memorial section is found by following the dove to the bottom right of the A Life Recorded Map. Here you will find the Roadside Memorials Area; a peaceful resting place dedicated to those who's lives have been tragically cut short on the road, offering a lasting tribute to their memory.

As you make your way through the pathways you'll come upon the beautiful fountain overlooked by a Guardian Angel. This is the entrance to the Angels' Playground, an enchanted place of beauty filled with cherubs and fairies dedicated to storing the memories of our sadly departed children.

Our latest addition to the A Life Recorded map is the white tree to the bottom left; which denotes the entrance to the Memorial Village, a beautiful and gentle area for your lost loved ones.

Anyone creating an Online Memorial Plot will have full administrative control allowing them to change pictures or written text when required, the option to delete tributes and comments left by other people when placing a flower or teddy, or lighting a candle, will also be at your discretion.

Visitors to A Life Recorded

If you are visiting the site to pay your respects to a friend or relative you are encouraged to register so that you can light a candle, leave a flower, or place an A Life Recorded teddy bear, along with your words of condolence.

Registration is completely FREE and you can be assured that your details will be held on file securely and never shared with any third parties.

Companions Retreat - Pet Memorial Garden

We also have a memorial area dedicated to our faithful companions. Whether you have lost a four-legged, feathered or more unusual pet, you can create a special Online Pet Memorial Plot to celebrate the unique bond Man has long enjoyed by welcoming members of the animal kingdom into our lives. You can find the Pet Memorial Garden on the A Life Recorded navigational map, to the south of the pathway leading to the Angels' Playground.

You can invite friends and family to view your Online Pet Memorial Plot and visitors to the Pet Memorial Garden are encouraged to leave Tributes or messages of Condolence for deceased Companions.
